The Pirate - Great Skua

I was lucky enough to capture this image on one of the RSPB-organised bird excursions on the Yorkshire Belle sailing out of Bridlington. On this occasion the fish thrown over the side attracted lots of gulls and a few skuas. This Great Skua is attempting to steal the fish from the gull in front. The other gulls would happily steal it as well but they are well aware of the speed, agility and aggression of the Skua. Its a little scene which shows the Great Skua doing what it does best. The pen and ink works well in portraying a grey day with choppy sea. The watercolour helps to define the characters in the scene and enhance the movement on the sea
